Hi Reader,
This morning I made homemade oatmeal for breakfast! Anything but bland, it was filled with coconut almond milk, chia seeds, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, shredded coconut, homemade granola, and a drizzle of honey.
Didn’t always have such amazing breakfasts.
Mostly they were dry cereal, a piece of toast, packets of mushy oatmeal, occasionally an egg…
The thing is, I didn’t always believe that it was possible for me.
Was scared to even try.
Quit things before I barely started them.
Went to one day of volleyball camp before I decided everyone was better. Why even try when I would just make a fool of myself??
Looked around the gym filled with athletic looking older high school girls who all seemed to know each other.
Immediately felt small and out of place. Didn’t know what to do with my hands even though I’d spent years playing at my old school.
Raw, squeezing tightness in my chest and heat rising in my cheeks. The color obscuring my vision.
Couldn’t make it out of there fast enough. Easier to leave and never come back than to face failing in front of these competent and highly sophisticated high school girls.
Spent a lot of time missing out on amazing things because I was too afraid to try.
Cooking was the same way at first.
Was so embarrassed when something burned, was too dry, or waaaay over salted.
Get to look back and see how far I’ve come from that place of fear and celebrate my results!
Learned that failing is only a challenge. Being able to find the solution to a problem and fix the issue, is highly rewarding!
Now I don’t hesitate to try something even if I’ve never attempted it before.
The truth is, the only way to learn is first to fail, learn from your mistakes, and try AGAIN!
So, I want to invite you to join the private Facebook group so you have a community of people who are willing to make mistakes together!
Take me to the group! |
P.S. Cooking can be so much fun even when we're making mistakes! There are so many reason to avoid failing, so this space was made for you to (virtually) get together with other adventurous women and get messy! 💃🏻✨🥑
